Oh silent night holy night
We are getting to that point in the season where the speed of every moment is quickened. The double time step till Christmas. It jingles, rushes and pushes us with the tide It lifts our spirits as we ride with the current swept up.
But not everyone is lifted. So many are swept aside and towed under – the loss of a loved one, Christmases past, seasons of stress a falling out…
As the days grow closer we often look further and further away from our savior. Lost in the lights we lose focus on the light of the world.
What does he ask of us? What would HE like to receive from us ? If this is really about celebration of our God as a baby in a manger why do the “things of earth” carry so much weight during the holiday season?
“mild he laid his glory by
born that men no more may die;
born to raise the sons of earth ,
born to give them second birth.”
Charles Wesley 1739
Give HIM a second. Stop the holiday train go outside in the quiet and look up at the heavens as they declare God‘s glory in the perfectly timed splendor !
Your time, service and friendship are your “gift” to him. Don’t forget to prepare your gift for God.
Did he even make the list?!
This year if we forget something in the next few weeks lets not make it the only thing of eternal value.
“What you did for the least of these you did for me.”-Jesus Matthew 27
“mankind was my business. The common welfare was my business;
charity, mercy, forbearance, benevolence, were all my business. Dealings of my trade were but a drop of water in a comprehensive ocean of my business. “Charles dickens – a Christmas Carol
