The Joy of Nurturing Faith
3 John 1:4 - “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.”
As parents, mentors, or friends, there is immense joy in witnessing the growth of loved ones in their faith. The Apostle John beautifully captures this sentiment in his letter, reflecting the unmatched joy that comes from seeing someone walk in truth—a life aligned with God’s purposes.
Consider a gardener nurturing a sapling. Daily, the gardener waters the plant, removes weeds, and provides sunlight, eagerly anticipating growth. As the sapling grows, the gardener feels pride and joy; the fruits of their labor are obvious. This mirrors the joy John feels for his spiritual children as guiding others toward truth gives way toa harvest of faith.
Take a moment to reflect on those you are nurturing in their spiritual walk—your children, a friend, or a younger believer. Like a diligent gardener, plant seeds of truth, offer encouragement, and help them grow in faith.
This week, reach out to someone you care about and engage in a meaningful conversation about their faith. Share encouraging verses, pray together, or simply listen to their heart. Your support can help them draw closer to God.
Remember, the impact of your love and encouragement brings joy not only to you but also to God, as He sees His children flourishing. Let this joy inspire you to nurture those in your life, knowing that as they walk in truth, you share in their journey of faith.
Lord, we thank You for the relationships You have blessed us with. Help us to encourage those around us, finding joy in their growth in faith and closeness to You. Amen.
