We Forgot to Pray

Psalm 100 - A Psalm for Giving Thanks
“Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.”

“Daddy, we forgot to pray!”.... This was the second time today that my almost 3 year old daughter had to remind me to pause and give thanks (It was only lunch time). On the one hand I felt slightly embarrassed at my failure to lead our family in this way, but on the other hand I felt grateful for the evidence of God’s work in her heart, despite my parental failings. More than that, He was using her to remind me of the importance of pausing regularly and giving thanks.

Regularly taking a moment to pause, praise and give thanks may seem insignificant, but I am convinced that our habits are constantly forming us into the people we are becoming. If you're like me and you tend to get caught up in the busyness of the day, take a moment now and ask God to grow in you a heart of constant gratitude! He hears your prayers and desires to help you!
