Hope in Grief

As many already know, this past week brought grief and sadness to our community with the loss of one of its members, Chris Roma, who died tragically while hiking in the Pemi Wilderness. Many of us at Loon Mountain Ministry knew Chris and share in the feelings of grief and sadness.

As a Christian, moments like these remind me that death is not the way it’s supposed to be. We were not meant to carry the weight of physical and relational separation from our friends and loved ones. This was not a part of God’s original plan. In the midst of incomprehensible tragedy I believe there is still hope. The hope for me is that death doesn't have the final say. There is a force even greater and more powerful at work…LOVE. Because of God’s great love for us he sent his son Jesus Christ into a broken world to take sin and death upon himself so that we could have a new and greater life. A life in relationship with Him. This life begins today and goes beyond our time here on earth into an eternity spent with our Maker. Because of the love of Christ I have HOPE- hope for Chris, hope for you, hope for me and anyone who calls on the name of Jesus...Because even in death, a life hidden in Christ can never be taken away.
